Uncoated Freesheet Weyerhaeuser expects deal for white paper business to be done “in the near future” Weyerhaeuser has made ‘‘substantial progress” in its discussion with other parties regarding the sale if its white paper business and plans “to bring this to a conclusion in the near future.” company Chmn, and CEO Steve Rogel told analysts during the company’s earnings report last week. Rogel could not say much more about the discussions because of their confidential nature. Contacts told Pulp&Paper Week that Boise Paper (owned by Madison Dearborn Partners) and Domtar are the most likely candidates to buy or possibly form a joint venture involving some or all of Weyerhaeuser’s white paper assets, which includes seven mills in the U.S. and Canada with an estimated capacity of around 2.65 million tpy of uncoated freesheet.
