Announcement—February 5, 2009 Domtar announced today that it will permanently reduce its fine paper manufacturing at their Plymouth, North Carolina mill by shutting down one of their two paper machines comprising the mill’s fine paper production unit. This will result in the curtailment of the mill’s uncoated free sheet production capacity by 293,000 short tons. This reduction is to be in place by the end of February 2009. Continued adverse economic conditions and the reduced uncoated freesheet demand require that they adjust their manufacturing capacity. The Plymouth mill will continue to operate two pulp lines, one pulp dryer as well as one paper machine. Domtar remains committed to operating a world class manufacturing and delivery system, and providing the key product and service levels that you have come to expect. Thank you for your continued support of Domtar products. Please contact your local Brown account manager should you have any questions regarding this announcement. |
