Excerpt from 8/20/07—www.brownpaper.com       Brown Paper’s Market Update

As predicted in our April 16th Market Update,
producers of Laser MOCR have announced a
September price increase.

IP, Domtar, Glatfelter and Boise have all notified customers of a general uncoated price increase of $60/ton effective no later than September 17th.

It is expected that GP will also announce a price increase in the coming days.

In addition, Glatfelter and Appleton both announced price increases for Carbonless and Security grades earlier this month.

The economics of producing paper and the escalating input costs are influencing factors here.  Another contributing factor was a successful May cut size price increase and the resulting gap in offset pricing.  Lack luster mill earning reports have also been pegged by some as another contributor.  The last UFS price increase occurred in April 2006 but mills have since given back most of that increase due to price erosion resulting from weak market conditions.

Customers seek a rational given the ongoing curbs in demand and shipment rates while producers look to make up lost ground as stronger 4th quarter
demand approaches.

Paper continues to be readily available although there will likely be some pre price increase
purchases impacting the flow.
